Traffic reporters
South Tyrol is enhancing its traffic services to deliver quicker and more current updates. To make this possible, the region’s Traffic Information Centre collects updates directly from drivers. These 'traffic reporters' communicate their updates to the Traffic Information Centre via telephone. The reports are then distributed to travellers through the 'Population Information System' (Bevölkerungs-Information-System), which the provincial government initially set up to manage emergency situations.
The traffic reporters are central to this initiative. If you are interested in joining this club, it’s easy – any individual travelling on South Tyrol’s roads can register to report on traffic conditions. The programme is especially interested in recruiting regular travellers like lorry drivers, sales representatives and bus drivers. Participation is voluntary, and because reports to the Traffic Information Centre are made via a toll-free number, our reporters do not incur any expenses.
If you are interested in becoming a traffic reporter and aiding in the smoother flow of traffic in South Tyrol, you can contact the Traffic Information Centre (phone +39 0471 20 01 98) or apply online. Upon registration, reporters receive a unique code number for identification when making a report, which helps prevent any potential misuse.
